What is vasectomy operation?
It is a small operation in which vas deference are cut and tied. Then sperms are not permitted in semen so wife does not become pregnant. After operation male ejaculates like before and passes semen more or less in the same quantity.
What are the indications of vasectomy
Common indications are:
For family planning
After prostatectomy
Hereditary diseases such as insanity, haemophilia etc.
What are the countraindications of vasectomy?
This operation is not advised in following circumstances
Too old a person when one does not procreate
Too young a person who intends abusing the operation
Sepsis of scrotum
Undescended testis
Is it true that person after this operation may become impotent?
No, this is all psychological fear and there is no adverse effect, mental or physical noted even after 30 years of vasectomy.
Do many people feel a lump and dragging sensation in the scrotum?
Yes, a few persons may feel so and symptom is immediately relieved if the patient is advised to wear a suspensory bandage. Even lifting up of the testis while the patient is standing relieves this pain.
What is testicular neuralgia?
The patient complains of shooting pain along the groin and the cord towards the testis. Sometimes pain may start in the loin. This may be possible due to haematoma or severe inflammation resulting in fibrosis and strangulation of the nerve fibres.
